Session Description

Tim will explore how Pearl Jam has cultivated an authentic, enduring relationship with its fans by putting community at the center of the experience. He’ll share insights from working directly with the band to develop products, shape marketing strategies, expand digital engagement, and create a direct-to-consumer model that reflects the band’s values and maintains its made-in-Washington ethos.

Presenter Information

Tim Bierman- General Manager Pearl Jam Ten Club

Tim began his career in music at the age of 14, playing in bands and hustling gigs in suburban St. Louis.  After high school, he headed west to earn his Geology degree at the University of Montana in Missoula.  There he found his place on the staff – and later as an owner of – Rockin’ Rudy’s Records. Bierman spent the next seventeen years there as buyer and manager.  After a brief stop in San Francisco at Amoeba Records, he was recruited to take over the helm as manager of the Ten Club, Pearl Jam’s official fan organization in 1998.

Since joining the Pearl Jam management team, he has grown the group’s on-line presence and sales to industry-leading levels. Working directly with the band on product development and marketing strategies has kept the Pearl Jam made-in-Washington ethos sincere. Direct to consumer distribution is done in-house in the band’s Seattle headquarters.

Tim has provided significant board service to the local Grammy chapter, MoPop and KEXP.
